Over 150 experts from finance, government, international organizations, business, Big Tech, the Earth observation community, research, citizen science, and other sectors will gather next September in Vienna, Austria, for the DEAL initiative’s first Expert Group Meeting.

Critical themes for their in-depth discussions will include:

  1. Why is a Big Data revolution required to enable the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? Scope, challenges, opportunities, scenarios;
  2. Data for Better Decision Making across Sectors: Use Cases, Accountability, Transparency, and Reporting; and
  3. Technology as an Empowering Agent

The event will be highly interactive and will be preceded and followed by an interactive online survey that will allow the Expert Group to share their input and help shape the work ahead of the event.

A full report of proceedings, stock-taking and recommendations will be issued at the end of the event.
